development blog for the wicked stuff we encounter

If you ever found yourself sitting in front of a dead Hackintosh system (for example another operating system's boot loader invaded it's Master Boot Record (MBR) like Linux's GRUB, and keeps telling like: Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format.), and would like to use it in it's original way, follow the steps below: 1) get yourself a 10.4.8 bootable (Intel) DVD 2) boot from it and press F8, and type -s to enter single user mode 3)  type: fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 flag 2 update write quit reboot

I have a triple booting system. XP, UBUNTU, OSX
I wanted to enlarge my OSX partition so I made the windows and ubuntu ones smaller, then I booted with the hackintosh disk and had a usb drive plugged in to it.
I imaged the osx onto it, then deleted the osx partiont since I could find nothing to resize it with.
After I restored the image to the newly sized partition I expected it to boot flawlessly but instead I got the message Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format.

I tried your method and it hosed it all.
I am restoring from an image that I made thank god.

I probably could have booted with a windows or linux cd and fixed the boot record but I have made a mess of things and wanted to get right back to where I started.

I really need my HFS+ osx partition to grow.
Any other Ideas?

@diregati: wow, you overcomplicated it a bit, i think. anyway did you used 10.4.x or 10.5.x? because they''re not quite the same!
